You need to choose minimally processed, real foods that are as close to their natural state as possible. Focusing on environmentally conscious grown food, organic foods, and non-GMO foods. Start by taking small steps, steps that are doable and that you will continue doing.
Eat more vegetables and fruits. You have heard this forever, and this is because it's the truth. Vegetables and fruits are loaded with vitamins, minerals, plant compounds, cofactors, and fiber to help fight inflammation and provide for healthy living.
If possible, the best choice is organic vegetables and fruits, as they have been exposed to the least amount of toxins. Include all the variety of colors, and remember, the more, the better.
Protein is a necessity for healthy living, but the quality of that protein is important. Pasture-raised bison, grass-fed beef, cage-free chickens and eggs, organic beans, lentils, quinoa, nuts, and seeds are all good protein choices.
Whole grains, healthy oils, teas, and coffee all add health benefits, especially if they are organic.
Finally, if you are going to purchase packaged food, read the ingredient list. Organic-certified is best. Otherwise, if the label has a lot of chemicals listed, leave it on the shelf.
Until next time,
